Acasio Acatecatl is a Spiritual Leader and Healer to people
and was born in the Nahuatl Nation, Mountain of Zongolica, Veracruz,
Mexico in the community of Cotlixco. Acasio has a lifetime experience
in the Ancient Tradition of the Mexicas. The majority of his training
comes from the oral tradition and his life experiences. Acasio
Acatecatl worked in extensive research studies done by Kalpulli
Koacalco in Mexico City under the direction of Maestro Francisco
Jimenez Tlakaelel in 1978. He has traveled throughout Mexico,
United States and Canada to accomplish expeditions of culture,
history and tradition exchange, in numerous Native American reservations.
He has had the wonderful opportunity to learn from many of the
Elders of many Native American Communities. The cultural exchange
amongst those Nations has included teachings in traditions, customs,
medicine, rituals and ceremonies of Native people. He has traveled
extensively to many Native reservations and was adopted by the
Lakota Sioux Nation in Rosebud Reservation, South Dakota. Lakota
Medicine Man Henry Crow Dog, father of Leonard Crow Dog started
to prepare Acasio for his initiation as a Roadman Medicine Man,
but Henry Crow Dog passed away before this was realized. Much
of his communities who are involved with the preservation of Native
traditions. He is the Tehkutli of Kalpulli Olmeca in Xalapa, Veracruz,
Mexico, and the Spiritual Leader for Kalpulli Tonal Teokalli in
El Paso, Texas. He has been directing the sun Dance Ceremony in
Xalapa, Veracruz since 1993. He directed the Sun Dance in Guadalajara,
Mexico from 1995 to 1999, and has been directing the Sun Dance
in El Paso, Texas since 1996. He is a teacher of his Native Language

the petroglyphs at Hueco Tanks State Park. His participation in
the interpretation of the Hueco Tanks Petroglyphs provided a historical
perspective from the South and other Native Nations.
Against all odds due to the geographic isolation of the mountainous
area where he was born and raised, Acasio finished his studies
equivalent to High School. He also studied under a special program
in Harvard University. He studied Acupuncture, Martial Arts and
Herbology, and is certified with Master Chinese Teachers in San
Francisco California. Acasio is also a sculptor who works with
precious gems, minerals, and an artisan with beadwork. He enjoys
working on different hobbies such as carpentry and drum making.
Acasio's parents, brothers, sisters, and the rest of his family
are still in the Mountains of the Sierra of Zongolica, Veracruz,
Mexico. He is married to Ramona Acatecatl and they reside in El
Paso, Texas. Acasio's vision is to preserve the Mexicayotl and
rescue the ancestral traditions, continuing in his path as a healer.
