Welcome and History The Thai Yoga Center is located in the historic town of Talbotton, GA. The Thai Yoga Center courses are located adjacent historic Rose Hill farm. We are minutes away from Warm Springs, Manchester, Atlanta and Columbus metropolitan areas. The Thai Yoga Center (TWC), was founded as an educational, health and retreat center. Our vision is for a community based cooperation of open minded people seeking to learn and share together ideas and concepts of healing and wellness. Our programmatic visions encompass virtually every facet of life from holistic medicine and healing to developing cosnciousness of fundamental energetic and spiritual principles. Thinking of the whole spectrum of life, everything is important, external as well as internal inviroments. Our joy is a profound commitment to insure the viability and sustainability of the land we share as well as the internal welfare of ourselves and those we care about. We are invested in bringing the adventure and opportunities and lessons that the land itself offers into all of our programs and mission. Who Are We? We are an eclectic community of educators, healers, Yoga practitioners and teachers who share ideals of community based education and sustainable energetic based health and wellness practices based on traditional concepts. We are constantly on the lookout for individuals with skills and temperaments who would like to be part of our permanent staff as well as seasonal associates. In the winter time season we are a small staff of about five people who organize, research and develop programs, design and improve facilities and grounds, publish and update our web-site, take care of our land and arrange for and register participants in our programs. In the spring and summer season our staff swells and is supplemented by volunteers who are here to serve our students and guests in a variety of creative ways...from land and facility building and maintenance, to gardens projects, residence support, cooking incredible quality food to assisting in actually facilitating various courses. Our live on premises volunteer staff also participate in the programs that they choose as well. We are not aligned with nor exclusively committed to representing any one particular healing method or spiritual path. We acknowledge the veracity and value of all the world's wisdom, traditions and sacred ways. We are generously committed to bringing the finest examples of as many different inspirational practices as possible in the most legitimate, ethical and practical ways possible. Our curriculum is generally designed to compliment all the important areas for personal and professional development for better understanding of health, wellness and the satisfaction of inner wellbeing. We are especially pleased to be hosting educational programs in support of our Native American teachers. Many of our courses have various levels of professional as well as institutional recognition and accreditation. Our program in SomaVeda Traditional Thai Yoga and Massage is the oldest running certification course of its kind in the US. Please refer to individual courses for specifics of recognition and suitability for licensing in your particular jurisdiction. We are a traditional program emphasizing small , personal classes given in the Master/ Apprentice relationship style. Apprentice style training is quite different from participating in western style programs and large group or corporate style. In apprentice style training you work closely and personally with the Master instructor or directly under the Masters supervision and guidance. This provides an intensely personal experience. In our type of program you are learning in the very same way this information was first communicated to us and in the manner it was authentically passed down through the generations. The Thai call the Master Instructor an "Aacharn". Our Aacharn, Dr. James is a 37th. generation master of formally recognized Thai Traditions and has been personally recognized many times for this in Thailand. No other western Instructor has similar or equivilent recognitions. (For a Bio on Aacharn J Click Here!). As you work with Aacharn J. expect to be treated with dignity and respect. However, at the same time please know that the same is always required from students and apprentices as well. Aacharn specializes in helping apprentices find their path and gifts relating to this work and works to bring the ancient traditions to life and practical expression for every one. Our first season "On The Land" is already providing many exciting opportunities for your participation in 2008. Please consider joining with us. Our Home is Your Home! |
